Sermon Notes

The cross icon has become a symbol with various meaning.  To some, the cross is a fashion statement; to others, the cross indicates religious belief; and to others still, the cross evokes thoughts of the person and work of Jesus Christ.  The cross of Christ is certainly more meaningful than a jewelry piece, and what actually transpired on a first-century hill outside of Jerusalem has cosmic implications.  The Apostle Paul wrote about reconciliation that was to be enjoyed by all those who looked to the crucified Christ as both Savior and Lord.  The term ‘Reconciliation’ itself implied a kind of relationship that was once hostile, broken, and troubled.  The Bible has much to say about how sinners may be reconciled in their relationship with God, and the cross of Christ is the focal point of it all.
