JOHN: THAT YOU MAY BELIEVE | CHRIST GENERATES EMOTION
Christianity embraces the emotional experience, and it does so in the healthiest and most productive way. Emotion itself is neither good nor bad; but what motivates our emotions and how we express them can become morally good or bad. The experience and expression of emotion driven by the truth and nearness of Christ is marvelous and to be expected in the life of every believer. In this message, we shall consider the essential and beautiful experience of emotional expression in the Christian life. "JOHN: THAT YOU MAY BELIEVE | CHRIST GENERATES EMOTION".

JOHN: THAT YOU MAY BELIEVE | DECLARING WAR ON THE MESSIAH
Like the Assyrian king who marveled at his own power (Is. 10:5-11), God used the religious leaders of Jerusalem to bring about His purposes of judgment in the world. Only this time, God’s judgment fell upon His own Son. What a profound display we see in the Gospel of Christ! In this message, we shall look to John 11:45-57 and consider the amazing heart of the Gospel message. In and through Jesus’ suffering, God exhausted His own wrath against sinners and gathered into one the Children of God from all peoples."JOHN: THAT YOU MAY BELIEVE | DECLARING WAR ON THE MESSIAH".

JOHN: THAT YOU MAY BELIEVE |JESUS IS THE RESURRECTION
What a profound and magnificent promise Christ has made to all those who love and trust Him! And, what incredible evidence Christ has given in order to demonstrate His trustworthiness to make good on that promise! Christ has power over death – even His own death – and He has promised to grant everlasting life to those who believe Him. Christ has raised dead men back to life, He has been resurrected Himself (never to die again), and Christ will raise all His people to new and everlasting life in the end. In this message, we shall consider Christ’s miraculous power over death in the resurrection of His friend, Lazarus."JOHN: THAT YOU MAY BELIEVE | JESUS IS THE RESURRECTION ".

JOHN: THAT YOU MAY BELIEVE | INTOLERANT JESUS
While the Bible is full of savory promises and comforting affirmations, it also contains unpalatable and pain-inducing things. In this message, we shall consider Jesus’ warning and entreaty regarding His own promise of life and freedom. His exclusivity is in stark contrast to the ideology of tolerance in our day, but His logic is persuasive and His promise of grace is supremely desirable. May God help us to humbly heed His warning and affectionately follow His lead."JOHN: THAT YOU MAY BELIEVE | INTOLERANT JESUS".

JOHN: THAT YOU MAY BELIEVE | BENEFITS FROM BLINDNESS
Most people usually do not enjoy talking about or even admitting their weaknesses. “Ask me about what I can do, not what I cannot.” However, the Gospel of Jesus Christ is only good news to those who realize that they are helplessly weak. The beauty of the Gospel is also the offense of it. In this message, we shall observe Jesus healing a man born blind, and we shall consider the intended metaphor for spiritual eyes. May God grant us grace to admit our blindness, and may He give us new eyes to see. "JOHN: THAT YOU MAY BELIEVE | BENEFITS FROM BLINDNESS".

JOHN: THAT YOU MAY BELIEVE | THE HUMBLE & GLORIOUS JUDGE
Many people have a favorite memory of those loved ones who have died. We all like to remember certain things about people we know, and we may even create nicknames based on a single experience with a friend. All of this is good fun, and it is often a helpful way to enjoy our relationships with others. However, Jesus Christ deserves more than a passing memory or thought. He is supremely glorious, mercifully humble, and incomparably holy. Though we may be tempted toward a flat picture of Jesus, we shall observe in this passage that Jesus is much too glorious for such a childish view."JOHN: THAT YOU MAY BELIEVE | THE HUMBLE & GLORIOUS JUDGE".

JOHN: THAT YOU MAY BELIEVE | FREEDOM TO OBEY
In our American culture, individual freedom and personal autonomy seems to be a chief concern. While some Americans are interested in limiting the freedoms of others, no one wants to limit their own. The last great sin among us is making any absolute claim that would obligate someone to conform themselves to a standard. Even in Christianity, people often assume that Christ offers this kind of freedom – personal autonomy. Christ sets sinners free... doesn’t He? In this message, we will consider how Christ defines freedom and what true discipleship looks like."JOHN: THAT YOU MAY BELIEVE | FREEDOM TO OBEY".

JOHN _THAT YOU MAY BELIEVE __A GOSPEL OF WARNING AND HOPE
Positive affirmations of faith are generally well-received in our pluralistic American culture. You can believe anything you want, and there will likely be very little criticism leveled against you. However, if you not only believe the positive affirmation, but also commit yourself to the negative rejection as well, then you have stepped over the line of acceptability. The only thing you cannot do is believe something or someone is wrong. Yet, Jesus doesn’t play by our subjective rules. He flatly preaches a Gospel that warns the one who rejects it, while it promises hope to the one who believes it. In this message, we shall consider the biblical Gospel, the Gospel of both warning and hope."JOHN _THAT YOU MAY BELIEVE __A GOSPEL OF WARNING AND HOPE ".

JOHN _THAT YOU MAY BELIEVE __TRUE LIGHT IN A DARK WORLD
Light is a common symbol, but it is so very much more than that. Light is a great metaphor because it is also quite useful and transformational. Light is not merely functional, like a simple tool for doing this task or that; light also affects the emotions and the perspective. Seeing what lies ahead is important, so that one may avoid the obstacles or pitfalls, but darkness alone carries some perils and fears. The Bible makes great use of the language of ‘light,’ and Jesus makes a dramatic statement amid a vivid scene that deserves our attention. In this message, we shall look as intently as we can at Christ – the light of life."JOHN _THAT YOU MAY BELIEVE __TRUE LIGHT IN A DARK WORLD ".

JOHN _THAT YOU MAY BELIEVE __OUR TENACIOUSLY RELIABLE BIBLE
Christianity is a religion based on real historical events, and it fundamentally depends upon the written record of those events and God’s message of explanation concerning them. For nearly two millennia, Christians have believed that the Bible is the divinely inspired and authoritative record of God’s self-disclosure. While there are varying details in the descriptions of what this means and how it plays out, orthodox Christianity has never discounted its dependence upon the Bible. In this message, we will consider the reliability of the Bible we have today and our need for one another regarding the broader community of faith (both today and throughout history)."JOHN _THAT YOU MAY BELIEVE __OUR TENACIOUSLY RELIABLE BIBLE ".
