Free To Love & Obey
Series: Galatians
The American truism, "Freedom is not free," may be familiar to most people. However, it might be interesting to know that this concept is also found in the Bible, and it has personal implications. The Gospel of Jesus Christ proclaims genuine and lasting freedom for all sinners who will trust in the person and work of Christ, but this freedom was costly. Additionally, the state of freedom that all Christians enjoy seems to be under constant assault from all angles. The Christian who honestly assesses his or her thoughts, words, and deeds may find that bondage and isolation are both lurking ever so closely. Where may real freedom be enjoyed? How may such freedom be maintained? This is the subject addressed in this passage.

    Bondage & Freedom
    Series: Galatians
If someone asked you if you preferred bondage over freedom, you would probably think it was a joke. The choice is easy in theory. Freedom is something to be cherished and bondage is something we naturally abhor. However, it is quite likely that you choose bondage over freedom every day. When it comes to human acceptance before God, bondage is our natural, default setting. Sinners constantly strive towards freedom, but they do so while wearing the unbreakable chains of bondage. Some sinners deny that the chains are real, and many sinners pretend that they have found a key to unlock them. Still the chains remain, but there is freedom to be enjoyed. The promise of God is to free sinners, and the promise is sure.

    Truth In Love
    Series: Galatians

If all Christians were perfect, then local church communities would be nothing but joy and celebration. One success story after another would echo down the halls of the education building as Christians told how they have benefited and grown from the application of the Gospel to their lives over the previous week. Worship services would always be well attended by the church members, and everyone would arrive early and leave late. None would want to miss the opportunity to greet each person and ask of God's goodness manifested in their lives during recent days. The imaginative dream could continue, but this is likely not a picture of your local church. Christians are sinful, and genuine community is messy; but it is worth it, and everyone should fight for and defend Gospel truth.

Genuine love, true identity, transcendent community, and divine adoption are the stuff of a basic Christian worldview. These are some of the elementary concepts of the Christian Faith, and these are some of the most profound needs that remain unsatisfied in many people today. Find satisfaction, joy, and contentment here.

    Promise And Law
    Series: Galatians
The promise of God is that He will give blessing instead of a curse. This promise comes to sinful man, and it is an amazing promise indeed. After this promise, God institutes moral laws, ceremonial laws, and dietary laws. We may struggle to understand how the law is to relate to the promise, but the Apostle Paul seeks to make the relationship plain to us. God's promise to save is vital for sinners who recognize they need a savior, and we may find great instruction here as to how we are now to understand our relationship to God's law as delivered to Moses. Does God hold you responsible for keeping His law? Why did God institute laws like this in the first place? How does Jesus affect your relationship to God's law?

    Of Faith Or Under Curse
    Series: Galatians
Curses from God is not a subject that most think much about these days. Many imagine a god that would never be so inconsiderate as to curse anyone or anything. Some believe in a god that is too impotent to do something so audacious as curse something or someone. Others still deny that any god exist who could curse at all. However, the Bible is quite interested in the subject of curses from God. Furthermore, the Bible is very interested in describing how sinners may avoid the curse from God. The Bible understands all humanity as being in one of two categories – Under the Curse or Of Faith. Which are you?

A Gospel That Saves And Grows
    Series: Galatians
The Gospel of Jesus Christ is a profound interjection of divine truth into in the midst of fleshly and sinful experiences. It seems that all humans are willing to admit that something has gone wrong, but few there are in our day that are willing to admit that the error finds its origin within the human will and heart. Credulously, humanity aims at personal recovery through various methods, which amount to nothing more than recycled spasms of futility. But God offers real freedom and lasting peace, and He demands that we respond with trust in the promise He has made.

    The Gospel Is Everything
The Gospel of Jesus Christ is a story of real human history. Jesus of Nazareth is claimed to have lived, died, and arisen from the dead to live forevermore. This story either is true or it isn't. If it is true, then it is the biggest and most incredible story of all time. God has indeed offered grace to sinners through Jesus Christ. If it is true, then Jesus has real authority over all humanity. If it is true, then this story is vital to everyone everywhere; and it is the story that overrides and trumps every other story. There is good reason to believe that the story is true, and we who trust in this risen Savior await the final consummation of all that He has told us in this marvelous story.

    Justification Through Faith Alone
    Series: Galatians
The book of Galatians may rightly be labeled the broken record of Paul's exhortation to believe Christ as an effective Savior. Sinners are sinful, and God is holy. This is not a complicated idea to grasp, but man seems incessantly persistent in his effort to right himself before God. Man is either supremely confident that he can and will justify himself before God, or he suffers ultimate despair in the pit of his own depravity as he comes to grips with the reality that he cannot justify himself at all. God offers perfect justification through Christ, and the doctrine of justification – how God justifies sinners – is the crux of Christianity.

Walking In Step With The Gospel
    Series: Galatians
The Gospel message is not a superstitious item, an incantation, a spell, or a charm. It is not something that a person may simply add to their collection of beliefs and practices. The Gospel of Jesus Christ changes everything! The Gospel is a message to be embraced or rejected. The one who believes the Gospel may and must live according to the truths embraced, and the Gospel has something to say about everything. It may rightly be said that the Christian life is lived well by diligently seeking to understand all things anew in light of the pervading Gospel of Christ.
