Gender & Sexuality | Dysphoric Life Under the Curse of Sin
What is manhood? What is womanhood? These questions are controversial in our day for multiple reasons, but at the outset we must be prepared to confront the reality that terms like “man” and “woman” are themselves becoming controversial. We shall explore the ultimate cause of gender confusion and look to the Scriptures for answers to some of the most important and applicable questions we will ask in our lifetimes. In this message we explore questions like, "What is a man?" "What is a woman?" and "How shall we live as Christ-following men and women in a culture that finds the gender binary almost as offensive as the exclusivity of the Gospel message itself?"

Gender & Sexuality | Leaving Darkness Without Shame
People have always tried to deal with shame. We distract ourselves, we medicate ourselves, we seek sometimes to punish ourselves, and we even try to hide ourselves. Feelings of shame and guilt are as common today as they have ever been, and those who are willing to take an honest look at themselves will most certainly be confronted by shame. There is both good news and bad news in the Scripture for us. May God enable us to leave darkness without shame today.

Gender & Sexuality | Distorted Affections
Nearly everyone understands that they are not as they should be. Many self-help tips and “new” systems are offered as a way to remake ourselves, peddling hope based on personal efforts and actions. However, the Bible cuts right through all of this noise, and tells us something we do not want to hear. We are broken. We are ever so much more broken than we even realize. In today’s American culture, there is much time and talk given to indulging in “natural” desires. But God’s Word speaks a different report. Our desires may be natural to us, unconsciously arising from within, but this does not mean those desires are not distorted affections. In this message, we will seek to understand what Jesus has said on this matter and how He has promised to reorient our distorted affections.

Gender & Sexuality | What does the Bible really teach about Homosexuality?
Our culture has experienced a sexual revolution. Of course, homosexuality is not the first or only part of that revolution, but it is a major part of it today. Christians who think that they can simply avoid this subject are foolish. Also foolish are those Christians who try to speak about this subject without first thinking long and hard about what is biblically faithful. Therefore, we are addressing a subject that is of great concern to our culture generally and to our church family specifically. Our aim to think biblically, speak thoughtfully, and act graciously.

    Genesis | A People From A Man
A mass of humanity is represented in Jacob, and he is truly the father of a nation. Many individuals became a notable people, and they all may trace their origin to this man. Like Jacob, Adam is also a man from whom a people have emerged. Humanity owes its origin to this one man. Adam, however, is not usually viewed in positive light, because his representation of humanity was the quintessential bad representation. And yet, there was a “second Adam” who represented humanity well. Jesus Christ is the better representative, and He too creates a people for Himself. Those who love and trust in Christ, are a people from a man, and we shall consider the depths of this profound reality in this message.

    Wisdom Begins With Respect
The average person is unlikely to say that they do not want to be wise, but the average person is also unlikely to do anything in pursuit of real wisdom. This contradiction provides the very evidence of lacking wisdom among many people today. There are many intelligent and many experienced people around us, but we are often amazed when we encounter someone with wisdom. What is wisdom? Do some people just have it, while others don’t? How can we improve our own level of wisdom? And, where does the Gospel fit into all of this? These are the questions we seek to answer in this message from the opening verses of Proverbs.

    Genesis | God’s Prevailing Promise
Isaac, like Abraham, was blessed by God. Isaac’s son, Jacob, also enjoyed the blessing of God. However, when we read the account of the “life and times” of these men, we do not see picturesque examples of godliness and fidelity. Instead, we see the same expressions of sinful human nature that we observe in all people everywhere. In such a display, we are reminded of what it really means that God is gracious. God’s gracious blessing is based on (you guessed it) grace. In this message we will look at the dysfunction of sinful humanity and the grace by which God blesses sinners.

Genesis | The Lord Keeps His Promises
In our day, it is very common for adults to admit high levels of anxiety and depression. Such things are complicated topics, but at the core of both is the experience and/or anticipation of unmet expectations. The Bible is not silent about expectations, and God is repeatedly affirmed as superbly faithful. In fact, Abraham was blessed by God beyond measure, and God’s faithfulness was on display time after time in Abraham’s life. In this message we will look at a specific time when God’s faithfulness took center stage, and we will consider the implications of God’s promises and His fidelity for us today.

Genesis | Rescue from the City of Destruction
The events surrounding the destruction of great ancient cities are fascinating and sobering. Sodom and Gomorrah are notorious cities, and even non-Christians know something of the biblical storyline. However, the big picture does not focus on what the distracted reader might think. In fact, it may surprise you that this is a story of God’s gracious ability to save in the midst of awful judgment. In this message, we will look at the way the whole Bible understands the account of Sodom and Gomorrah, and we will hear a message of both warning and rescue.
