Accepting Christ as Your Savior
Have you come to a point in your life where you are ready to trust Jesus Christ as your Savior? When
people talk about "becoming a Christian", this is what they mean. At FBC Diana, we say this is as
simple as "A-B-C." It is not necessarily easy, but simple... and free!
A-Acknowledge (or admit) that you have sinned.
The word "sin" actually means "missing the mark" God has set for you. Everyone has missed the mark
and, therefore, sinned. The Bible says, For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:
23 NIV).
B-Believe in Jesus.
The word "believe" means to have more than "head knowledge" of Jesus. It actually means a belief
that leads to an action. That action is placing total trust and faith in Jesus for the forgiveness of your
sins. The Bible says, Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved (Acts 16:31 NIV).
C-Confess Jesus as Lord.
The word "confess" means more than to say something. It means to change your thoughts to the
thoughts of God. The Bible says, If you say with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and if you believe in
your heart that God has raised Christ from death, you will be saved (Romans 10:9 World English).
Coming to know Jesus is as simple as ABC, but it is not easy. It begins with a simple prayer telling God
in your own words that you have failed to live up to His holy standards and need His help to live your
life. You can receive Christ right now by faith through prayer. Prayer is simply talking with God who
knows your heart and is not as concerned with your words as He is with the attitude of your heart. The
following is a suggested prayer:
Lord Jesus, I want to know you personally. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door
of my life and receive You as my Savior and Lord. Thank You for forgiving me of my sins and giving
me eternal life. Take control of my life. Make me the kind of person You want me to be.
Does this prayer express the desire of your heart? If it does, pray this prayer right now, and Christ will
come into your life as He promised. And remember: "God loved the world so very, very much that He
gave His only Son. Because He did that, everyone who believes in Him will not lose his life, but will
live forever" (John 3:16 World English).
If you have prayed this prayer, you have begun the most exciting journey of your life! But you were not
meant to take this journey alone! We would love to partner with you as you begin to grow in your new
