We exist for God’s glory and our joy through
GOSPEL-CENTERED WORSHIP, COMMUNITY,
SERVICE & MULTIPLICATION.

What is the Gospel?

In short, the Gospel is the story of God’s plan to save sinners. Throughout human history, God has been actively involved in revealing Himself as both righteous Judge and gracious Savior. The story of God’s redeeming work may be best understood if we begin with creation and work our way towards Jesus. In fact, it is a good rule of thumb to always be in pursuit of Jesus.

WORSHIP

What is Gospel-centered Worship?

Worship begins with revelation. The God of the universe makes Himself known through revelation and humanity is made to respond to such a display with adoration, gratitude, humility, praise, celebration, and wonder. Because humans are naturally sinful, an essential aspect of Worship is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Therefore, Gospel-centered Worship includes a human response to the revelation of God as He makes Himself known through Jesus Christ as the Savior of sinners.

What is Gospel-centered Community?

Community in creation, especially in humanity, reflects the nature of God Himself. God is triune; He is Father, Son, and Spirit. As such, God is communal and relational, and humanity is meant to reflect this essential aspect of God’s own nature. While each Christian has a personal relationship with God, that relationship is neither private nor separate from other Christians. In fact, the Christian journey and its destination are always meant to be understood in the context of community with others.

What is Gospel-centered Service?

Serving others without any expectation of receiving anything in return has been a hallmark of Christian lives over the last several centuries.  Self-sacrifice and costly service was embodied in no one more than Jesus Christ.  God the Son set aside the riches of His glory and took upon Himself the poverty of sinful man in order to rescue sinners from their hopeless condition of slavery to sin and death.  Christians, therefore, serve willingly and cheerfully because they have been served by Jesus Christ.

MULTIPLICATION

What is gospel-centered multiplication?

Churches were never meant to be holding tanks for Christians. Rather, it is the role of every Christian and every church to make disciples of all peoples (Matt. 28:18-20). Our disciple-making efforts are not limited to FBC Diana. In fact, we understand that every Gospel-centered disciple-making effort across the globe is something to which we are inherently linked. Gospel-centered Multiplication is our effort to multiply disciples and disciple makers across the street and around the world. This includes support for church planting, short-term missions involvement and support, and long-term missions involvement and support.

In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, which he lavished upon us…

Ephesians 1:7

SERMON PODCAST

Oct 8, 2017
CELEBRATING REFORMATION__FAITH ALONE
Much ink and even blood has been spilled over the question, “How is a sinner made acceptable before God?”. There is good reason for such an interest in the question, for this question is one of supreme importance to every sinner. If you are perfectly righteous, then you have no interest in such a question. But if you are guilty of even a single moment of disobedience, then your acceptance before God is of paramount concern. In this message, we shall consider the biblical teaching on the manner in which any sinner is made acceptable, pure, and holy in God’s sight. Looking through the lenses of the Protestant Reformation, we shall investigate the past and the present need for clarity on this subject."CELEBRATING REFORMATION__FAITH ALONE".

    CELEBRATING REFORMATION__SCRIPTURE ALONE
The Protestant Reformation is quite unknown by many Protestants and Catholics today. Additionally, of those who do know anything of the divide, many are calling for reconciliation and reunification. What was the Protestant Reformation? Why did it happen? Why are there Protestants today? Should Christians today even care about these things? In today’s message, we will begin a 5-part series addressing the formal cause of the Protestant Reformation. We will consider the doctrine of Sola Scriptura (Scripture Alone), learning from past protests and confronting present presumptions. "CELEBRATING REFORMATION__SCRIPTURE ALONE ".

JOHN _THAT YOU MAY BELIEVE __A GOSPEL OF WARNING AND HOPE
Positive affirmations of faith are generally well-received in our pluralistic American culture. You can believe anything you want, and there will likely be very little criticism leveled against you. However, if you not only believe the positive affirmation, but also commit yourself to the negative rejection as well, then you have stepped over the line of acceptability. The only thing you cannot do is believe something or someone is wrong. Yet, Jesus doesn’t play by our subjective rules. He flatly preaches a Gospel that warns the one who rejects it, while it promises hope to the one who believes it. In this message, we shall consider the biblical Gospel, the Gospel of both warning and hope."JOHN _THAT YOU MAY BELIEVE __A GOSPEL OF WARNING AND HOPE ".

JOHN _THAT YOU MAY BELIEVE __TRUE LIGHT IN A DARK WORLD
Light is a common symbol, but it is so very much more than that. Light is a great metaphor because it is also quite useful and transformational. Light is not merely functional, like a simple tool for doing this task or that; light also affects the emotions and the perspective. Seeing what lies ahead is important, so that one may avoid the obstacles or pitfalls, but darkness alone carries some perils and fears. The Bible makes great use of the language of ‘light,’ and Jesus makes a dramatic statement amid a vivid scene that deserves our attention. In this message, we shall look as intently as we can at Christ – the light of life."JOHN _THAT YOU MAY BELIEVE __TRUE LIGHT IN A DARK WORLD ".

JOHN _THAT YOU MAY BELIEVE __OUR TENACIOUSLY RELIABLE BIBLE
Christianity is a religion based on real historical events, and it fundamentally depends upon the written record of those events and God’s message of explanation concerning them. For nearly two millennia, Christians have believed that the Bible is the divinely inspired and authoritative record of God’s self-disclosure. While there are varying details in the descriptions of what this means and how it plays out, orthodox Christianity has never discounted its dependence upon the Bible. In this message, we will consider the reliability of the Bible we have today and our need for one another regarding the broader community of faith (both today and throughout history)."JOHN _THAT YOU MAY BELIEVE __OUR TENACIOUSLY RELIABLE BIBLE ".

JOHN: THAT YOU MAY BELIEVE | Jesus, The Christ provided by The Father PART 2
Could it be that Jesus is really the Christ? So much is packed into this question, and particularly the title of “Christ.” The Christ is a figure mentioned in numerous prophecies throughout the Old Testament, and it is the culmination of various aspects of prophetic fulfillment. The Christ (the Anointed One or Messiah) is one who would be a prophet like no one else, a king whose rule would tower over all others, and a priest who would supersede all priestly servants. In this message, Barry Ward draws upon the ancient prophecies concerning this unique character and calls upon today’s hearer to respond with belief and trust in the one man who proved Himself to be “the Christ.”"JOHN _THAT YOU MAY BELIEVE __Jesus, The Christ provided by The Father PART 2 ".

COMMUNION SUNDAY: BAPTIST DISTINCTIVES |PROCLAIMING THE LORD’S DEATH UNTIL HE COMES
Suffering and death are common to life on earth, but no one wants to think about them, much less experience them. No one in their right mind goes around looking to enter into suffering. And yet, this is exactly what God the Son did. God became a man with the expressed intent of suffering and dying. Furthermore, this suffering and dying Savior is what we celebrate every time we partake of the Lord’s Supper (or Communion) as a church body. In this message, we shall consider the counterintuitive nature of the Gospel and the genuine hope provided in Christ’s suffering."COMMUNION SUNDAY: BAPTIST DISTINCTIVES | PROCLAIMING THE LORD’S DEATH UNTIL HE COMES ".
